  • Birth Doula | The Nostalgic Doula | Cambridgeshire & Norfolk

Cambridgeshire Doula services Providing Doula services for Cambridge, Huntingdon, Peterborough , the Fens and west Norfolk too. I am a graduate of Developing Doula’s, Doula preparation course, completed in 2019 and am very happy to be a member of Doula UK (where you can find my full Doulography ☺️) and Cambs Doulas too. I live in the Fenland town of Ramsey, which is pretty central in Cambridgeshire, I therefore can happily offer care to most of the county and often beyond into Norfolk, Lincolnshire and Bedfordshire too. What can a Doula do for me? In what can be an intense time in our lives , with such a steep learning curve as we not only learn about our babies but also so much about ourselves and our partners too : I love to be your sounding board, your go-to cushion for a yell or a cuddle. Your window and filter onto a world of research and knowledge that lurks everywhere around us from the moment we step foot on our parenting story board. Choose from one of the 3 packages below, or together we can design one that is just for you... 1. Birth Pool and The Birth Sling hire is also included for every one of my clients if they want it. Hypnobirthing I offer bespoke Hypnobirthing, included as standard all of my packages. I believe in the power of the mind body connection which is truly enhanced to it’s best with Hynobirthing techniques. I therefore aim to make it accessible to as many birthing people and their partners as possible. Birth Photography Birth Photography is included in my enhanced birth doula package. My camera will be packed in my on-call bag ready to capture as much or a little of your birth story as you would like me to. For some their photographic birth story board holds dear memories, for others it is a tool to process their birth memories. Book a call with me Sarah Drawwater My name is Sarah Drawwater, I am Mummy of two very gorgeous boys born in 2013 and 2015, and wife to one incredibly hard working and supportive husband. Find out more about me here.... Find out more Doula support without the cherry I also acknowledge that some families are looking for a little more than an antenatal/Hypnobirthing teacher and a little less than a full birth doula. (and perhaps some are looking for a birth doula but have a smaller budget in mind) This is why I have added a 'doula without the cherry' package to my offerings - I believe that my antenatal support/offerings are the core of what I have to offer, they are what brings the most value to you as a family preparing for birth - they are the flour, the butter, the eggs and the sugar in your cake. With measured care, attention and nurturing these ingredients will make a mighty fine cake. For some, when done properly antenatal doula-ing will leave both you AND your birth partner with all the tools you need to have a splendid birth. This is why I believe that having me there at your birth is there cherry on the cake. A lot of people want or need the cherry, and that is just perfect. But for some, a delicious cake will do just nicely. (see also virtual doula if distanced support is what you need) Book a call with me Stepping things up a bit. This birth package is enhanced to the max. If you are looking for a doula who can truly envelope you and your partner with loving support and most importantly tool you up to the highest level for birth and postpartum then this is the one for you. There are many highly valuable extra additions to the package not included in my standard birth package... Breaastfeeding/feeding & Postnatal Prep & Support When you book an enhanced package you are not only booking me but also Jo Thompson, breastfeeding counsellor and post-partum specialist too. Read more about Jo on her website here . Birth Photography I believe in the power of preparation first and foremost, but I also believe in the power of reflection. Birth photography is not only a memory box for your and your family, it is also a very powerful reflection tool. All images are date and time stamped to help you tread your way back through your story when you are ready. - Please note I do not use a flash for birth photography, I believe this is important. Osteopathy An initial consultation/treatment with Jenna Dockerill at The Waterside Practice is also included in this enhanced package - you have the abolity to choose whether to book this appointment antenatally, postnatally for yourself or postnatally for baby. I believe that birth is a journey, it is one portion of a lifelong story that we embark on during our own births. Planning your journey doesn’t mean that you must plot a route and idly stick to it, oh no: There may be unexpected barriers and detours required to get to your destination, and that’s ok , almost to be expected. But with some careful planning , a little bit of soul searching and the right support you will draw up your map of the whole landscape, ensuring that you stay in control of the twists and turns in your journey. I am here to help you draw up your own map, fill your suitcase with tools and support you to trust in yourself, trust your body and your ability to trust the path ahead. I believe the best way for you to get a glance of what I have to offer you is through the words of my clients. These lovely peeps have agreed to share their experiences... Lauren says... Sarah is a fantastic doula, very knowledgeable and always has a great article to support the information and sends it for you to digest in your own time. She is non judgemental and reassuring. Sarah has given us so much support over WhatsApp and face to face and has a great soothing approach with our newborn. As new parents we've learnt so much from Sarah and if she doesnt know the answer shes got a great network of people, who specialise in other topics, that she can confidently recommend. Thank you. Ariana says... We feel so fortunate having had Sarah by our side during pregnancy, birth and during the fourth trimester. Both myself and my husband learned much (from guidelines, hypnobirthing and learning to advocate for ourselves and our baby) felt supported and most importantly we were empowered at every single step and I could safely tap into my instincts and make conscious choices along the way. To someone looking from the outside, my pregnancy and birth were not straight forward and text book, but I absolutely loved the whole journey and I am sure having an advocate by our side played a huge part to me feeling I had such a positive experience! I'd absolutely recommend Sarah as your doula. Learn, educate yourselves and have this kind, knowledgeable and strong doula by your side along the way!! Amy says... Sarah is an amazing doula and I would highly recommend her. I didn't do the hypnobirthing course with her but in the days running up to my labour she did some with me to help release some painful emotions and fear that was arising from my previous abuse experience. It was wonderful and I now wish I had done the whole hypnobirthing course with her! She was brilliant support prior to the birth and at the birth whilst she could be there (I had to transfer to hospital in the middle of covid lockdown). I would recommend her to anyone! Nina says... Sarah is just the best, I can't imagine my birth without her ❤️ From the moment she joined us on our birth journey we knew we were in the best hands. Sarah draws on an incredible set of online and offline resources, meditations and tools which made us feel confident and prepared for the birth of our baby. Sarah is very knowledgeable - she supported us with any questions we had throughout our birth journey and was always able to point us to lots of different resources for us to form opinions and create our birth plan. Aa a same sex couple we were grateful that Sarah's materials were already inclusive and she checked in with us on a number of occasions to ensure nothing was missed even down to how we wanted to be addressed by staff in hospital. As soon as labour started Sarah was there with a Mary Poppins style bag producing anything I could need in that moment from snacks to scents, even mood lighting! She has a very calming presence and was an absolute rock helping me stay calm, control my breathing, talk through visualizations and so much more. Sarah moves with great intuition and sensitivity. We feel very blessed to have had her with us for the birth of our baby, I can't recommend her highly enough. Britty says... Sarah was an amazing support for both myself and my husband throughout our early parenthood journey. She educated us about labour, birth and beyond, ensuring we felt confident and positive. Throughout the long labour and birth she was an incredible birth partner. She was very calm and reassuring and always asked the right questions. She ensured that no matter how our labour developed we felt positive and safe. After the birth of our son her postnatal support was outstanding. She was there every step of the way in those early days, offering advice and support. We cannot thank Sarah enough or speak more highly of her. We truly believe all couples on their birth journey need a Sarah! Daisy says... We asked Sarah to be part of our birthing circle quite late on into our pregnancy as I was getting nervous about the feeling of lack of control I had once my pregnancy was deemed ‘high risk’. I needed someone else on my side to help understand my wishes and who could be another voice for me during birth if I was otherwise busy (as in, birthing a baby!) Sarah was with us for my whole 3 day labour as a guiding light for us with the crazy ups and downs and even when things went off plan, because of her careful and diligent planning with us beforehand my son’s birth was incredible, beautiful and empowered. Best decision we could have made! Fiona says... Sarah is just wonderful. She was our doula and photographer at our homebirth a few weeks ago and the graceful and quiet way she protected our birth space was wonderful. All the support she provided us with during the pregnancy and in the lead up to the birth was invaluable and I can’t recommend her enough to anyone considering a doula for their pregnancy and birth. The photos she took to document the birth beautifully captured the atmosphere and we’ll always cherish them. We’ll certainly be in touch if we decide to have a third baby! Hayley says... Sarah was an amazing doula to us and we are so glad we found her! We decided to find a doula with our second pregnancy as we were expecting MCDA twins and we realised that as we were classed as ‘high risk’ we would need some help from outside of the system. We hoped for a homebirth but eventually agreed with the hospital that we could go into the birth centre and Sarah helped us to achieve that as it was not easy. She was amazing during the birth too and I think my husband appreciated having her their for his support. I 100% recommend her services! Let's chat...

I write in my blog about Postnatal Doulas being like Play Doh: We are there to be moulded into whatever you need us to be. So what does this mean for you? As a Birth Doula I am there for my clients before baby arrives, through your labour and birth and am there to support postnatally too, as much as you need me. I offer a full birth preparation course as part of my package, this includes Hypnobirthing . I also offer unlimited visits to you in your home whilst you are preparing for your birth and this also gives, you, your partner and I plenty of time to get to know each other. Doula Support I believe in offering women and birthing people, their partner and their families informational, emotional and practical support during their journey through their pregnancy and well into parenthood should they want me to. My aim is to travel with you along the way, signposting you to information and services in your area whilst being you and your family’s emotional and often physical support too, the whole way. Birth Pool and The Birth Sling hire is also included for every one of my clients if they want it. Hypnobirthing I offer bespoke Hypnobirthing, included as standard in my birth Doula package. I believe in the power of the mind body connection which is truly enhanced to it’s best with Hynobirthing techniques. I therefore aim to make it accessible to as many birthing people and their partners as possible. Birth Photography I also offer birth photography to each of my clients as standard. My camera will be packed in my on-call bag ready to capture as much or a little of your birth story as you would like me to. For some their photographic birth story board holds dear memories, for others it is a tool to process their birth memories. Sarah Drawwater My name is Sarah Drawwater, I am Mummy of two very gorgeous boys born in 2013 and 2015, and wife to one incredibly hard working and supportive husband. But for some, a delicious cake will do. Ask me about my 'doula without the cherry' deal for more info. (see also virtual doula if distanced support is what you need) What’s next? My Birth Doula package starts from £1450, depending on location. Virtual doula and 'doula without the cherry' packages start at £150/month. If you would like more information or just an informal chat please get in touch now and I’ll be back in touch very soon with some information and we can organise a meet up. • Sarah Drawwater (incl discounts)

< Back The Nostalgic Doula A little bit about me... My name is Sarah Drawwater, I am a birth Doula, a Hypnobirthing Facilitator and creator of Birth Prep In A Box. I live in a little Fenland Cambridgeshire town with my family and our little grumpy dog. In my work as a Doula I strive to support my clients to find unbiased, evidence based information to support their decision making when planning for birth and their lives with a baby. This is never an easy task to undertake alone whilst also navigating our sometimes complex maternity systemc, and Google can be a very scary place when you’re expecting a baby! So in 2021 I created birth Prep In A Box as a way to share unapologetically simple antenatal education that could be accessible to all, not just my Doula clients. What do I offer? I am available for booking of private one-2-one (or one-2-two) classes, either in person or online starting at £30. Please visit my website for more information on prices and booking. Discounts available I would love to offer mini course attendees the following: One-2-One Recap video calls at 1/3 off - £20 per hour One-2-One 10hr Course - 25% off at £240 (between 9-3 Monday to Friday) Full Online course for only £19.99 To claim, please contact me via the website or on 07584 245179.
